Terms of Service

Last updated: June 7, 2026

By downloading, installing, or using Liber, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, these Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights. If you do not agree to these Terms, please refrain from using the software.

1. About Liber

Liber is a desktop eBook library manager developed and operated by Liber ("we," "us," or "our"). These terms govern your use of the Liber application, our website, and all associated cloud services. To use Liber, you must be at least 16 years old or the minimum age of digital consent in your country.

1.1 Service Availability & Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the software, provided that such changes do not materially reduce the core functionality of paid services in violation of applicable consumer law.

2. License Grant & Acceptable Use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Liber on one device at a time for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

Account Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and license for material violations of these Terms (e.g., fraud or abuse of AI features). Any refund rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.

3. Free Tier & Premium Subscriptions

3.1 Free Tier

Liber offers a free tier with core library management features at no cost. Core local library management will remain free.

3.2 Premium Billing & Renewals

Premium is available as a monthly or annual subscription. Payments are securely processed by Paddle.com, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled.

3.3 Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel anytime from Settings → Premium to stop future charges. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds and your Right of Withdrawal are governed by our Refund Policy.

4. AI Features & Fair Use

Premium includes AI-powered features. We do not use your book content to train AI models. You agree that AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete, and you use it at your own risk. It is provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional, legal, medical, or educational advice. To prevent abuse, AI features are subject to automated fair-use quotas. Attempts to bypass these limits will result in account termination.

5. Cloud Backup & User Content

Premium includes cloud backup functionality. Your data is encrypted client-side; we cannot access its contents. You are solely responsible for the legality of the files you upload and sync. We do not monitor your files. However, you must keep independent local backups. Except where required by mandatory law, we are not responsible for loss of data resulting from factors outside our reasonable control.

6. Intellectual Property

Liber, its code, design, and branding are owned by us. Your eBook files remain yours — we make no claim of ownership over the books or documents in your library.

7. Warranties and Statutory Rights

For EU/UK Consumers: Under the EU Digital Content Directive (2019/770) and the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, we provide a statutory guarantee of conformity for Premium services. If the digital service is defective, you may be entitled to a fix, price reduction, or refund.

General Disclaimer: Subject to your statutory rights above, Liber is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without additional warranties. We do not guarantee that the software will be entirely error-free or uninterrupted.

8. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud. However, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including data loss or business interruption. Our total financial liability shall be limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are an EU or UK consumer, you additionally enjoy the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring legal proceedings in your local courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our services or the law. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
